Raja Petra charged with sedition

Webmaster Raja Petra Kamaruddin was today charged with sedition at the Petaling Jaya Sessions court over an article he wrote about the Altantuya case. He refuses the Rm5000 bail and was put under custody until the hearing date in October 2008. In one of his articles yesterday, he wrote that this is all God's will and as a Muslim he will face whatever comes.

His writings has created much controversies of late. Some readers even question his faith when he spoke about Islam. A lot of issues raised were in fact not denied by the authorities, his sources or 'deep throats' as he called it, are everywhere, especially in the highly secretive government 'units'.

Fellow bloggers hope that he can endure this new challenge as a test from God Almighty. Amin.

Komen Raja Petra pasal Islam kadangkala agak keterlaluan. Tapi itu mungkin cara penulisan nya. Aku rasa dia ni sengaja nak cari publisiti murahan, tak mau bayar duit bail. Mungkin sehari dua dia akan keluar juga. Anwar saja yang tahan duk lama dalam jail.

Dulu Mahathir kata internet tidak akan di sekat bila dia lancar MSC. Sekarang apa dah jadi? Kita perlu tukar gomen.

Yes, I remember Mahathir giving a commitment not to censor the internet when launching MSC many moons ago. That commitment was done to attract foreign investors. The problem is, he conveniently forgot to eradicate the sedition act (section 112). We are still way way off, to a develop nation status.
