Court throws out poll petition, Khairy keeps Rembau

Jun 4, 08 10:05am

The Seremban High Court today dismissed a poll petition challenging the UMNO Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin's victory in the Rembau parliamentary seat at the March 8 general election.

Judge Mohtaruddin Baki delivered his decision this morning.

The petition was filed by Khairy's contender - PKR supreme council member Badrul Hisham Shaharin - on April 25.

Mohtaruddin dismissed the petition with cost, saying that there were too many defects in the petition.

He also said that Badrul Hisham had failed to prove that any alleged irregularity could have changed the outcome of the election.

"These twin requirements is a must," he said in his ruling.

Khairy won the seat with a 5,746-vote majority.
